PET MEDICAL BRACE TO PREVENT POST-SURGICAL CONTACT

KYOR (CURE)

Project Overview

The Kyor Brace is an alternative to the Elizabethan Collar (better known as the Cone of Shame). While it prevents the canine from licking its surgical wound, the E-Collar restricts the dog's movement, hearing, and vision. Its hard and plastic material is both uncomfortable to touch as it is to wear. 'Kyor,' pronounced as 'Cure,' is made of a soft yet durable material.

Research shows that a mere 1.5-2" of the material above the dog's shoulders and around their neck is enough to restrict their head's turning movement, preventing them from reaching injuries on their chest, body, or tail. Kyor achieves this with a design inspired by neck braces professional motocross bikers use as standard safety equipment in the sport. Pioneered by Dr. Chris Leatt, motocross neck braces protect the rider by restricting their head and neck movement in a crash while also deflecting the effects of any impacts onto other areas of the body. Luckily our pets don't participate in motocross. Kyor only needs to be lightweight, durable, and restrict a dog's head movement.
